Legal & General moved to expand its internal capabilities by appointing Emma Holden (pictured left) as chief people officer and naming Andy Sinclair (pictured) to a newly created strategy and investor relations role scheduled to begin at the end of January 2026.

Holden will take responsibility for people strategy across the group and will sit on the Group Management Committee under chief executive António Simões. She is currently chief people officer at Man Group and previously spent 17 years at Schroders across HR, communications and investor relations. Her appointment remains subject to regulatory approval.

“I am delighted to be joining L&G at such an exciting time for the business,” said Holden. “I have been hugely impressed by the people I’ve met, and by the company’s purpose-driven culture.  I look forward to working with António and the wider team to help shape the next stage of L&G’s growth.”

Meanwhile, Sinclair will oversee the combined Group Strategy and Investor Relations function, reporting directly to Simões while working within chief financial officer Andrew Kail’s leadership team. He joins from Bank of America Securities, where he is managing director and head of the European insurance team. His background includes close to two decades of actuarial and analyst work at Bank of America and Standard Life, and he is a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

“I’m very pleased to join L&G - a business I’ve followed closely for many years and greatly admire,” said Sinclair. “L&G has a strong execution track record and meaningful long-term purpose. I look forward to working with António, Andrew and colleagues across the group to help build on our strengths.”

Simões said Legal & General is progressing its plan for a growing, simpler and better-connected business. He said the two appointments will contribute to the next phase of the group’s long-term strategy introduced in June 2024.

“Emma is an outstanding leader with deep expertise in talent development and large-scale transformation. Her appointment will ensure we have the right capabilities and culture to support our growth,” said Simões.

“Andy brings a wealth of knowledge of the insurance sector and long-standing relationships across the investment community. Together they strengthen our leadership team and will help us deliver on our strategic ambitions,” Simões added.

Recent market commentary has also focused on the company’s financial position. Legal & General recently reported that dividend yield reached 9.2%, supported by a £500 million share buyback within a three-year £5 billion capital return plan. The group posted a 6% rise in core operating profit to £1.6bn for full-year 2024.
