Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has launched Group Personal Accident and Business Travel Insurance in the UK, further extending its global Accident & Health (A&H) footprint. Nick Major, country manager, UK at BHSI, said the move reflects growing demand for integrated employee protection solutions. He added that employee safety and wellbeing are now core strategic priorities for businesses, particularly in today's complex travel landscape. This opens new doors for brokers to meet rising opportunities with clients who are seeking combined covers for their staff.
The new product suite is designed for UK companies of all sizes, providing protection that extends beyond traditional accident and travel insurance. Coverage includes real-time risk alerts, traveller tracking and emergency response services delivered in partnership with Healix International.
UK-based employees covered under a Group Personal Accident policy will also have access to virtual healthcare services through Teladoc Health UK, including 24/7 GP consultations, an expert second medical opinion, and a 24/7 mental health helpline.
The product line is led by Toni LePine, head of Accident & Health, UK, with underwriting led by senior underwriter Tom Keeble. Both are based in London and bring significant market experience in building long-term broker and client partnerships.
The UK launch marks a significant expansion of BHSI’s global A&H capabilities, which already span North America, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Middle East. By bringing the product to the UK market, BHSI is entering a space where insurers are increasingly competing to offer broader employee protection packages that combine insurance with health, safety and wellbeing services.
BHSI's entry is expected to add another strong competitor, with its proposition differentiated by a focus on combining comprehensive cover with practical support tools like real-time alerts and virtual healthcare.
For UK brokers and corporate buyers, the development adds further choice in a growing area of risk management. Companies with international workforces and high travel activity are expected to see particular value in the blend of protection, digital support and global emergency response now available under BHSI’s cover.
