Beazley has promoted Jenny Han (pictured above) to focus group leader, environmental liability, with the appointment effective immediately.

Han, who is based in San Francisco, will report to Jerry Sullivan, head of professional, environmental and mergers and acquisitions.

Han brings 22 years of experience in environmental insurance to her new role. She joined Beazley in 2014 and has been a member of the company’s global environmental liability team, developing underwriting expertise and leadership skills.

Prior to joining Beazley, Han held senior positions with both international and US domestic insurers, including serving as vice president of an environmental division. Earlier in her career, she spent 10 years as an environmental consultant advising private sector clients.

Han will oversee Beazley’s environmental liability team as the company continues to provide insurance solutions for businesses facing environmental risks.

“Environmental liability insurance is an essential tool for businesses navigating today’s complex environmental risk landscape, and Jenny’s expertise will continue to be a significant asset to our global team as we support businesses through expert-led solutions,” Sullivan said.

Challenges in the environmental insurance landscape

A recent survey conducted by Beazley found that 73% of global executives believe the current economic climate is making it more difficult to prioritize sustainability targets. The company’s leadership has noted that while economic uncertainty is a major concern for many firms, climate and environmental risks remain significant.

Beazley has emphasized the importance for businesses to integrate climate risk and resilience into their long-term strategies, even as immediate financial pressures persist.

Despite the growing attention to environmental issues, Beazley’s reports also indicate that only 20% of global business leaders rank climate and catastrophic risks as a top concern. This suggests a potential gap in risk prioritization, with many organizations possibly underestimating the long-term impact of environmental exposures on their operations and financial stability.
