The move is among the first to take place under the Hong Kong SAR Government’s new company re-domiciliation regime and is subject to regulatory approvals.
The re-domiciliation will not affect ACRIB’s legal continuity, organisational structure, or day-to-day operations. AXA confirmed that existing contracts, including policyholder rights and obligations, as well as agreements with distributors and business partners, will remain fully intact.
Upon completion, ACRIB will be renamed AXA China Region Insurance Company (Hong Kong) Limited.
The decision comes as Hong Kong positions itself to attract more global insurers by offering a clear pathway for companies to move their legal domicile without disrupting their business.
AXA stated the transition would streamline compliance and reporting processes while strengthening its regional footprint.
Sally Wan, chief executive officer of AXA Greater China, described the move as more than a technical change. “This is a significant step forward in deepening our roots in Hong Kong,” she said. “By leveraging Hong Kong’s robust financial ecosystem and its rising importance as a global risk management hub, we are well-positioned to capture future growth opportunities in the region.”
AXA's re-domiciliation is also expected to support Hong Kong’s ambitions to become a leading international insurance centre, reinforcing investor and policyholder confidence in the city’s regulatory and operational infrastructure.
Updates on the process will be made available via its official website: axa.com.hk.
