Nearly 100,000 homeowners have moved back into Florida’s private insurance market over the past two years, including the most recent 7,087 Citizens policies assumed by American Integrity Insurance Group, Inc., representing about $25.8 million in annualized written premium.
The transition is part of the state’s ongoing effort to reduce Citizens Property Insurance Corporation’s policy count as legislative changes passed in 2022 and 2023 altered litigation trends and claims activity. Those reforms, cited across American Integrity’s earnings reports, have contributed to shifting policies from the state-backed insurer to private carriers participating in the take-out program.
American Integrity’s latest assumption brings its total Citizens depopulation activity to nearly 100,000 policies over the 2024–2025 period. The company said the newly absorbed group carries an average premium of $3,640. Florida regulators have approved hundreds of thousands of policies for transfer across the market this year, with American Integrity among the active participants.
The insurer’s ability to take on policies has been supported by capital raised through its initial public offering in May 2025. According to filings and earnings reports, the IPO generated about $81.5 million in net proceeds and placed the company on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker AII. The company reported net income of $13.2 million for the third quarter of 2025 and gross premiums written of $239.1 million, a 48.5% increase from the prior-year quarter.
In public statements, executives have tied policy assumptions to shifts in Florida’s market environment. “Florida’s reforms restored clarity, predictability, and fairness to a market that had been destabilized by litigation abuse,” CEO Bob Ritchie said. He added that the company seeks to grow responsibly, support homeowners, and participate as conditions change.
American Integrity has also been active elsewhere in the state’s market transition. As published in its earlier filings, the company assumed 1,891 Citizens policies during the third quarter and about 9,200 policies in early 2025. Those actions contributed to a 48.6% year-over-year increase in policies in force during the third quarter, totaling 406,094.
Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Tampa, American Integrity primarily writes residential property insurance in Florida, with additional operations in Georgia and South Carolina. The company said the latest Citizens assumption continues its role in Florida’s private-market shift as the state moves eligible homeowners away from Citizens and into private carriers.
